Alabama Community Partnership for Recovery and Re-entry (CPR) is on the move and Governor Riley wants State and Faith Groups to Help Ex-Prisoners Avoid Return to Crime. |
Over 7,000 individuals are released from Alabama's prison and court systems each year.
* Once released, these individuals are very likely to commit other crimes--creating more victims--UNLESS we get involved
* We MUST assist them in becoming productive citizens in their target communities--OUR communities.
* Our churches and other community-based groups are KEY to helping us build and maintain SAFE and HEALTHY communities.
Governor Riley's Plan 2010 calls for engaging more faith and community-based activities to help relieve prison overcrowding and reduce recidivism rates. The CPR Network, working with Alabama Department of Corrections, seeks to meet those objectives.
The CPR Advisory Council is being established to develop vision and strategy for engaging community groups in a collaborative and sustainable way to support previously incarcerated citizens’ efforts to become productive members of our communities. Click here for more information
